[With Lizzie resting, being looked after by the landlady at the Inn, Brianna has spent most of the day bargaining, and at one point, flat out pleading to sell the horses she and Lizzie had bought upon arrival in the Carolina's in order to get a boat to take them up the river.
Exhausted and ready for bed, Brianna is on her way back to the Inn she and Lizzie are boarding at when she comes to a halt as the yells she had been hearing in the distance grew louder.]
